Recognize this artist? No? Maybe this is a bit more familiar.

That's art by Nicolas R. Giacondino, or as many 40K fans know him, Aerion-the-Faithful. He's done a ton of fan art for the 40K community, including the picture of Sanguinius for the Dornian Heresy document that Bolter and Chainsword put out a couple of years ago, the Emperor "Abide" image for Adepticon 2012's Friendly Tournament, and the design for the AdeptiConstruct. If you're a 40K fan who's spent any time online, you've probably seen one or more of his pictures. You can check out more of his 40K artwork in his deviantArt gallery.

So, why am I bringing Nicolas up? Because he's a friend of mine, and he's in a bit of a financial tight spot right now. That means he's open for commissions, and he's ready to jump on them and get them done. I can personally vouch for his quality and speed. I've commissioned him three times, and every time he's been fast, communicative, and the artwork has always been top-notch. His prices are very reasonable, and he's very, very good. The picture at the top of this post was one I commissioned for my podcast - a group portrait of our four hosts. Not only did he turn it around in a very short time (while working on finishing up the first volume of his comic Free Mars), but based solely off of a few pictures I provided him from Facebook, he did portraits that even my 5-year-old could instantly recognize - all while maintaining his signature style.

So please, if you're interested and can spare the funds, contact him at his deviantArt page and ask for an art commission. He's very familiar with the 40K universe and can definitely make your vision come to life. The help will be greatly appreciated, I assure you!

Army Challenge: Marshal and Crusader Squad http://www.nockergeek.net/2012/05/11/army-challenge-marshal-and-crusader-squad/ http://www.nockergeek.net/2012/05/11/army-challenge-marshal-and-crusader-squad/#comments Fri, 11 May 2012 18:19:51 +0000 NockerGeek http://www.nockergeek.net/?p=1242

The Marshal I was working on last week is now assembled. My only gripe with him is that the glue on the Templar cross on his shield set too quickly, so it froze in place a bit askew and I couldn't adjust it. Not the end of the world, but a minor annoyance. Otherwise, he's perfectly good and templar-y.

I'm a bit intimidated at the concept of freehanding the banner and/or any cape detailing, but fortunately that step's a bit far out. I don't want to get ahead of myself and psych myself out. In the meantime, I also managed to get my small shooty Crusader Squad completed:

Loyalist marines feel like they keep their legs in a wider stance than Chaos marines; getting these guys placed on the basing material (pieces of corkboard) was trickier than I expected just because their legs are so far apart. I'm getting more used to it with each one and sizing my cork scraps more appropriately, so the next batch - the first pistol/CCW squad - should go smoother.

Also, I just want to say how awesome it is to work in a dedicated hobby space. All my tools are within reach and not packed away, and I have room to spread things out as I build. I'm absolutely loving it.

Army Challenge: It Has Begun! http://www.nockergeek.net/2012/05/03/army-challenge-it-has-begun/ http://www.nockergeek.net/2012/05/03/army-challenge-it-has-begun/#comments Thu, 03 May 2012 14:54:43 +0000 NockerGeek http://www.nockergeek.net/?p=1234

May 1st has come and gone, and I have officially started working on my Black Templar army for the Preferred Enemies Army Challenge. I thought about starting off with vehicles - a Rhino, maybe, or a couple of Land Speeders - but I decided to keep it simple and start with an HQ and troops. That means I have 19 Initiates and 4 Neophytes to make, along with a Marshal for my crusade. The former I can build from the Space Marine battle force (which is the stack of sprues in the background), and the latter I'm building from a Space Marine commander (his sprues, along with a command squad and some Black Templar sprues are in the foreground).

I've already got all the parts for the Marshal clipped out and set up. They just need to be cleaned up a bit and assembled:

I'm using the combat shield from the Assault Marine squad as a storm shield (and had to clip off the hand on the back because it's for the wrong arm), and I'm using the special Black Templar backpack from the upgrade set instead of the double-eagle backpack. Hoping to get him together tonight and then maybe make some progress on the Crusader Squads. I think I might do the las/plas squad first - it's smaller, and it'll get me used to building marines again.

In the meantime, I also have some Tau Pathfinders to assemble and paint, and I think I'll try out the brush-on GW primer for those as an experiment. It'll be nice to finally try out the new paints, I think.

Hobby Project 2012/2013 – Black Templars http://www.nockergeek.net/2012/04/14/hobby-project-20122013-black-templars/ http://www.nockergeek.net/2012/04/14/hobby-project-20122013-black-templars/#comments Sat, 14 Apr 2012 15:37:30 +0000 NockerGeek http://www.nockergeek.net/?p=1227

Now that the Independent Characters' 2011/2012 Hobby Challenge is over, it's time to look towards my project for 2012/2013. It's looking like they won't be doing another army project for this year - which makes sense, as expecting listeners to crank out a new army every year would be a bit much - but I have another army waiting in the wings for such a project. Since I'm ready to go now, in May I'll be kicking off my Black Templar army. My goal - a 2000-point army completed by March 31, 2013. I have pretty much everything purchased and ready to start assembling, so I'll be spending the next two weeks making sure my hobby space is stocked and ready, and then I'll be off to the races!

Here's the list that I'm looking at right now:

HQ: Marshal (136 pts)
1 Marshal (Terminator Honors; Frag Grenades; Lightning Claw x1; Storm Shield x1)

Fast Attack: Land Speeder Squadron (70 pts)
1 Land Speeder Typhoon (Typhoon Missile Launcher)

Fast Attack: Land Speeder Squadron (70 pts)
1 Land Speeder Typhoon (Typhoon Missile Launcher)

I'm going to be joined in the challenge by my podcasting co-hosts Dennis, who will be painting his Dark Eldar, and Richard, who will be painting Tyranids. They already have all their models assembled, and Dennis's are primed as well, so I'm starting a bit on the back foot. Of course, my army's primer is going to be their main color, so that gives me a slight advantage on painting speed - not that it's necessarily a race. I do have a few models already assembled, though - I went ahead and got my Assault Terminators and Emperor's Champ ready.

This will be my first Imperial army, so I'm looking forward to seeing how it turns out. It'll be nice to work with power armor that isn't covered in spikes...

My New Hobbying Space http://www.nockergeek.net/2012/04/09/my-new-hobbying-space/ http://www.nockergeek.net/2012/04/09/my-new-hobbying-space/#comments Mon, 09 Apr 2012 13:55:42 +0000 NockerGeek http://www.nockergeek.net/?p=1222 So, with the new kid here, we had to convert the home office into a nursery, which left me without much of a place to work on minis apart from the kitchen table or a folding table in the living room. Fortunately, we had a garage with a workbench in it that had mostly been used for storage. We've cleaned up the space (and are still working on it; it's a work in progress), and have officially made it into a "man-cave" of sorts.

Image

I've got a magnifying lamp, a pegboard for all my tools, a couple of barstools (it's large enough for two people to easily work at it) and more than enough space to be working on a whole army at once. I've also got shelves underneath for all my various gaming books, so my BRB and codexes are never far away.

Image

And yes, that is a lightsaber on the pegboard.

Image

It's going to be great for this year, because I've got a cabinet full of models (also in the garage) for my Black Templar army this year...

Image

I think all I need is a paint organizer or two, and to straighten up the workbench a bit, and I'll be set.

Hobby Challenge – Complete! http://www.nockergeek.net/2012/04/03/hobby-challenge-complete/ http://www.nockergeek.net/2012/04/03/hobby-challenge-complete/#comments Tue, 03 Apr 2012 15:26:49 +0000 NockerGeek http://www.nockergeek.net/?p=1213

What you see in the picture above is 2,250 points (or thereabout) in Slaanesh-themed Chaos Space Marines, finished late on March 31, 2012 - just in time to meet the deadline on the Independent Characters' 2011/2012 Hobby Challenge. I started back in June, with a slightly different list, and ended up swapping out a Defiler and some change for a unit of 3 Obliterators. Granted, this list was built before I looked at de-fluffing a bit for efficiency, but pretty much everything from this list can be used in those lists. The army ended up being in a state of halfway-completion around the start of the year, with very few models being actually finished. I'd get a mini or a vehicle to the point where it was ready for detail work, and then move onto the next mini. I think the only miniatures I finished last year were the Daemon Prince and the Chaos Sorcerer.

The end result of this process was that February and March ended up being a massive rush for me to finish what I'd started. February saw me finishing three squads of Noise Marines and their Rhinos, which left March for, well, everything else... so that's what I did. Painted everything else in March. Mostly over the last two weeks:

That chunk right there represents the last two weeks or so of this month. Every night was a push to squeeze in what painting I could. Fortunately, any given detail work doesn't take too long, and most of the squads were relatively small. Only the Daemonettes were larger than 6 models, and I had them mostly complete when I left off painting them.

The Obliterators were the unit that I wasn't sure if I would finish in time, as I hadn't even started on them beyond priming them. On Friday the 30th I started basecoating them - Tallarn Flesh on the meat bits, and Calthan Brown on the gold - and I painted them in earnest on the 31st. They're speed-painted, and not the prettiest things (even considering their general ugliness as a model), but they're done!

I'm going to try to set up my photobox this week and take better pictures of everything - these pictures were hastily put together to prove on the IC forums that I had, in fact, finished. Next on the project list is my Black Templar army, along with the occasional side model here or there to add to existing armies. A Hammerhead or Pathfinder here, a Defiler or Chaos Marine there, as I feel drawn to them. For now, though, I'm taking at least a week off from any hobby work (besides maybe priming). I think I've earned a break!

The New GW Paint Line – First Glance Impressions http://www.nockergeek.net/2012/03/20/the-new-gw-paint-line-first-glance-impressions/ http://www.nockergeek.net/2012/03/20/the-new-gw-paint-line-first-glance-impressions/#comments Tue, 20 Mar 2012 16:19:01 +0000 NockerGeek http://www.nockergeek.net/?p=1207

By now, everyone has seen the new paint chart above, showing all the new colors that GW will soon be releasing in their paint line. I have to admit, I'm impressed by the range of products offered. There's a lot of colors and variants in that chart, and how the paints are separated into groups - supposedly by thickness and opacity - will make it easy to find the right paint for the right job. Let's take a closer look at these charts and see what we can find.

First up, we have the bases, which I can only presume are the equivalent to the current Foundation Paints. The biggest news on this is that they've nearly doubled the number of such paints available, and added black and white to the line - in fact, Abaddon Black is the only true black available in the line (well, almost - we'll get to that). Other items of note - metallic foundations, which are good to see, and completely changed names, which are not as good. For example, I use Dheneb Stone foundation quite a bit for my noise marines - it's what I use to get a lighter base on black models before I paint pink - and I'm not sure what the equivalent will be. There's a "Rakarth Flesh" in the line that looks close (to get a readable list of names, visit Miniature Wargame Conversions), but until we can get an actual side-by-side comparison, I have no way of knowing. Now, I understand why they're changing names - Vallejo's Game Color line pretty much rips the old list off whenever possible - and these are supposed to be new paints with a different formula/pigment density, so even if there was a Dheneb Stone, it wouldn't be the same Dheneb Stone as before. Still, though, it'll take some adjustment. Besides the white, black, and metallics, there's a wider range of blues, greens, and browns in the Base line. With all the colors presented, no one should have any problem getting exactly the foundation color they want (even if they have to blend a bit).

The Layer paints, presumably similar to the current "standard" GW paints, aren't all that different apart from there just being more shades and tints. The current Colour line is 39 (I'm not counting Gloss Varnish), plus 7 metallics. The new line is 70 colors including metallics. Again, around 33% more colors, mostly expanded in the blues, greens, and browns.

No true blacks in the Layer line, but that makes sense - one rarely has to layer black over another color, and if you did, you'd want a good, opaque black, hence its presense in the Base line. Also, there's a wider variety of metallics, including the return of not one, but two varieties of brass. Again, you're going to have to relearn your names - no more Chainmail, Shining Gold, or Boltgun Metal - but there shouldn't be any issue with a lack of options.

After Layer paints, we've got shades, which I'm guessing are the analogs to the current Washes. Again, more options - we've gone from 8 to 12 - and different names. Goodbye, Devlan Mud; hello, Agrax Earthshade. Why they decided to rename these boggles me a bit, since the names were already GW-specific and the line was relatively new (compared to other paints), but again, I guess we can chalk that up to a formula change. The increased color options - two more greens, a yellow, and an orange - aren't huge, but it's nice to see.

This next set admittedly leaves me a bit confused. The Dry line is presumably geared towards dry brushing, but I'm clueless as to how that will make it differ, apart from maybe being a bit thicker in consistency. I'm also not sure why the entire line is in pastels, apart from the two metallic dry paints. Definitely a wait-and-see product for me; I'm curious to see what GW says about it. Hooray for having an actual pink in the line, though!

Glazes are a small line, with only four bright colors available, and they'll most likely be halfway between Layer and Shade - not so opaque as to obscure the colors below, but not so thin that they'll run into features in the mini. Not much more to say here, although a few more colors would be nice. However, you've got your primaries - yellow, blue, and red - plus a green, so you should be able to blend up pretty much anything.

Texture paints have me intrigued. The idea of a thick, textured paint for weathering and basing is appealing, and it looks like they've got all the basics covered there. If I end up doing winter/snow basing for my Black Templars, picking up some Mourn Mountain Snow for painting around the treads on my Land Raider and Razorbacks will definitely be on my list. Again, though, a bit of wait-and-see here, since the product is an unknown quantity at present.

Finally, we have the Technical line, which are your utility products. A glaze medium is nice to see, although I have my doubts about it being in a pot rather than in a dropper bottle. 'Ardcoat is pretty much Gloss Varnish, and Liquid Green Stuff shouldn't really be considered a paint. What grabbed my intention, though, is Imperial Primer. A paint-on black primer for doing touch-up on priming jobs, or for just doing a brush-on priming when I don't want to spray (or just have one model to prime), could be a godsend. I'm surprised there's not a white version as well, though. Yes, there's always Ceramite White Base paint, but Base/Foundation paints are not primers.

So, there it is. The 145 paints that GW teased this week. If I have three hopes for this paint revamp, they are as follows:

  1. I hope the line is as good as has been rumored (supposedly, it's a much higher quality of paint/pigment than they've used in the past),
  2. I hope the new paint types are clearly useful and have a reason to exist, and
  3. I hope that the price per pot doesn't go up because of the change.

We'll find out more on Saturday, March 24th - I imagine that's when the paints will go on pre-order, although I wouldn't be all that surprised if GW goes ahead and just makes them available. I may just end up grabbing one or more paints from each line and comparing them to their predecessors when the time comes. In the meantime, if you have a particular GW paint that you need more of for your current painting project, I would stock up now before it changes!

Armies: What’s Next? http://www.nockergeek.net/2012/03/16/armies-whats-next/ http://www.nockergeek.net/2012/03/16/armies-whats-next/#comments Fri, 16 Mar 2012 14:13:32 +0000 NockerGeek http://www.nockergeek.net/?p=1202 Within the next two weeks, I should be wrapping up work on my Slaanesh CSM army. I don't know if I'll have it 100% completed, but I'll definitely be in the 90% range, with maybe another couple of weeks to go. So, to be fair, let's call it a month. By tax time, this army will be finished. The obvious follow-up question is, what's next?

The obvious answer is, my Black Templars. I've already started work on assembling them. I've got an Emperor's Champion, 5 Lightning Claw Terminators, 5 TH/SS Terminators, and a Black Reach dread assembled and based. In a month, I could easily have everything for my list built and primed, so painting could begin in earnest in June. I figure that project could cover me until, say, October, as it'll be an easier paint job than anything I've done so far - priming black has its benefits.

After that point, I'm thinking about taking a break from new armies. I still have some Tau and CSM models left unpainted, and while they aren't in my main list, it'd be nice to finish up more points just to have them available. I want to aim for an Apocalypse game sometime this year, and the more points I can put on the table, the better. I should be able to field around 3000 points of Tau, and easily that many in CSM. Templars will always be a third army, so I imagine that collection will grow more slowly. Of course, all of these choices are dependent on what new codexes are released in the next year. If the rumored Chaos Legions book is really a thing, I could end up re-vamping my CSM army. There's also the option of doing another CSM army... I'm thinking Nurgle-themed, if I do it at all. Just depends on how well things shake out.

Re-Evaluating My Tau Strategy http://www.nockergeek.net/2012/03/05/re-evaluating-my-tau-strategy/ http://www.nockergeek.net/2012/03/05/re-evaluating-my-tau-strategy/#comments Mon, 05 Mar 2012 17:46:40 +0000 NockerGeek http://www.nockergeek.net/?p=1196

Just because I've been devoting a lot of time to painting and revising my Chaos Marines doesn't mean I've completely ignored my Tau. They're still my first, best, and favorite army, if a bit dated and static. I don't intend them to remain static, though. Every now and again, it's good to re-examine and re-evaluate your battle plan, to see what's going on in the environment, and to change things up a bit. And so it is with my Tau; it's time to switch things around a little.

Some recent battle reports I've seen, such as this one on BoLS, or these two on Imperius Dominatus, have reflected a Tau army that varies somewhat from what I normally run, but is similar enough to my style that I should have little trouble adapting. The main differences I'm seeing include:

  • 2-man Crisis Teams, Including HQs - Rather than the 3-man squads and solo commanders I usually run, these lists are running 2-man squads in every available slot. This includes bodyguards for the commanders. While the net result tends to be slightly fewer suits than I usually run (10 versus the 11 I squeeze into my army), the logic is sound. First, you've got an increased ability to divide fire as necessary without buying target locks. Also, it games the morale system a bit; a 2-man squad is never below 50%, so it can always reform. A 3-man team can fall to 33%, break, and never come back.
  • Dual Pathfinder Squads. There's nothing unusual about Pathfinders in a Tau army, but I never really make use of them. In my last games with my Tau, though, I've had moments where I'm screwed by my merely-average BS or by the ever-present cover saves, and Pathfinders are still the best way to get markerlights into a list and counter those situations. They're also taking advantage of Marker Beacons to allow the Crisis Suit teams to deep strike more accurately. Two squads helps guarantee that you've got decent markerlight saturation, and that you're not screwed if one squad goes away.
  • Unmounted Fire Warriors. Two 6-man Fire Warrior squads on foot, ready to take advantage of the Pathfinders' Devilfishes for taxi service. This is more a matter of economy, since you're already paying for the Pathfinder transports. I still don't like the temporary loss of tempo, since you have to do the disembark/embark shuffle sometimes, but what else was I going to do with those Fire Warriors? They're not making up a gunline.

There's differences between the lists - all MP/PR suits versus having a squad of TLFL/FB suits, and having standard Kroot/Hound squads versus having one big blob squad of 20 - but overall, they're very similar. They're also both 2000-point lists, which is more than I normally play. However, our local area is starting to shift towards 1750 being the "standard" army size, so could this concept be adjusted down to that point level, especially with what I currently have available? Here's my take on it:

HQ: Commander Shas'el w/Missile Pod, Plasma Rifle, Multi-Tracker; Bodyguard w/Missile Pod, Plasma Rifle, Multi-Tracker (159 pts)
HQ: Commander Shas'el w/Twin-Linked Missile Pod, Flamer, Hard-wired Blacksun Filter; Bodyguard w/Twin-Linked Missile Pod, Flamer, Hard-wired Blacksun Filter (135 pts)
Elite: 2 Crisis Suits w/Missile Pod, Plasma Rifle, Multi-Tracker (124 pts)
Elite: 2 Crisis Suits w/Missile Pod, Plasma Rifle, Multi-Tracker (124 pts)
Elite: 2 Crisis Suits w/ Twin-Linked Missile Pod, Flamer (94 pts)
Troops: 17 Kroot Carnivores (119 pts)
Troops: 6 Fire Warriors (60 pts)
Troops: 6 Fire Warriors (60 pts)
Fast Attack: 5 Pathfinders; Devilfish w/Disruption Pd (145 pts)
Fast Attack: 5 Pathfinders; Devilfish w/Disruption Pd (145 pts)
Heavy Support: Broadside Team Leader w/Advanced Stabilization System, Hard-Wired Blacksun Filter, Hard-Wired Drone Controller, Shield Drone; 2 Broadsides w/Advanced Stabilization System (263 pts)
Heavy Support: Hammerhead Gunship w/Railgun, Blacksun Filter, Disruption Pod (160pts)
Heavy Support: Hammerhead Gunship w/Railgun, Blacksun Filter, Disruption Pod (160pts)

Total: 1748 points

The only thing that's really missing, as far as I'm concerned, is a Piranha or two. I just don't have the points to fit them in at this level, although at 2000 points I'd definitely put one in (and maybe a squadron of 2). Alternately, I can drop one of the Broadsides from the squad, fit in a Piranha, and still have points for a couple of Kroot Hounds. The extra blocking is good; I just don't know if it's worth the loss of a railgun. I suppose testing will tell.

I was originally planning on taking my soon-to-be-completely-painted Chaos Marines to a local tournament on April 1st, but I'm wondering if I shouldn't take the above list (or a variant) instead...

Six is Not a Magic Number (and Other Lessons) http://www.nockergeek.net/2012/02/27/six-is-not-a-magic-number-and-other-lessons/ http://www.nockergeek.net/2012/02/27/six-is-not-a-magic-number-and-other-lessons/#comments Mon, 27 Feb 2012 18:15:43 +0000 NockerGeek http://www.nockergeek.net/?p=1192

After the drubbing I received at the hands of the Dark Eldar this weekend, I've been thinking about my Slaanesh CSM army and how to improve it. The decision I've come to is that I must unfortunately sacrifice a bit of fluff for the sake of efficiency. Now, this is probably a big "Duh" for a lot of people, but I've been trying so hard to make fluff and effectiveness gel well, and it just doesn't. That doesn't mean that I'm completely scrapping the theme of the army - I'm not swapping in Plague Marines or Khorne Berzerkers - but like any good manager, I'm making cuts in some areas to improve the whole. So, some of the decisions I'm making include...

  • Six is not a magic number. Once upon a time, having 6 models in a Slaanesh unit meant something, but these days there's nothing special about it. With Noise Marines, or any other unit for that matter, six models versus five just means another warm body. The points I'm spending on that extra body can be better used elsewhere - if I trim the extras out of a number of units, it can easily mean another unit on the table.
  • Not every unit needs an icon. Take my Chosen, for example. I run them forward in a Rhino with either all meltas or a combo of meltas and flamers. They're not meant to really get into assault. Giving them an Icon of Slaanesh serves no purpose unless I'm planning on deep-striking something near them, and in that instance I can just attach an IC with a personal icon. Unless I need icon saturation on the table, that's another 20 points I can spend elsewhere.
  • Blastmasters are out. I love the idea of blastmasters, I really do. However, the reality is that it's like combining a heavy bolter and missile launcher, paying more for the combo, and getting less utility out of it. Pinning's about the only notable extra you get, and frankly that's just not enough. Too expensive for too little benefit - let's put those 40 points elsewhere.
  • A Noise Marine squad doesn't need to do everything. I used to pack 5 sonic blasters in a squad along with a doom siren/PW Noise Champ. Looking back, the unit ends up being kind of schizoid; is this a shooting unit or an assault (i.e., doom siren delivery) unit? It's better to separate them out a bit. Let some vanilla Noise Marines accompany the champ, and let the sonic blaster squads sit back and shoot things that get close. Diversification is a good thing.

That's not to say I'm all efficiency over here; I still like to run a Land Raider full of Lightning-Claw Terminator Champs, which is a ridiculous amount of points, and if I wanted to get truly efficient, I would tone that down a bit or replace it with a couple of other units. I also realize that Slaanesh is probably the hardest of the four Chaos Gods to do well with in a CSM army. Still, I still tend to skew my lists a bit towards fun over fight, so I'm thinking I can have fun with this while still being more effective. So, for example, a couple of 1750 lists with this in mind:

List One:

HQ: Chaos Sorcerer (Mark of Slaanesh, Lash of Submission) - 125 pts.
HQ: Daemon Prince (Mark of Slaanesh, Sorcerer, Wings, Lash of Submission) - 155 pts.
Elite: 5 Chosen (Meltagun x3, Flamer x2) in a Rhino - 165 pts.
Elite: 5 Terminator Champions (Icon of Slaanesh, Pair of Lightning Claws x5) in a Land Raider (Daemonic Possession) - 505 pts
Troops: 5 Noise Marines (Sonic Blaster x5) in a Rhino - 160 pts.
Troops: 5 Noise Marines (Sonic Blaster x5) in a Rhino - 160 pts.
Troops: 4 Noise Marines and a Noise Champion (Doom Siren, Power Weapon) in a Rhino - 180 pts.
Heavy Support: 2 Obliterators - 150 pts.
Heavy Support: 2 Obliterators - 150 pts.

List Two:

HQ: Chaos Sorcerer (Mark of Slaanesh, Lash of Submission) - 125 pts.
HQ: Terminator Lord (Mark of Slaanesh, Daemon Weapon/Blissgiver, Combi-Melta) - 155 pts.
HQ*: Summoned Greater Daemon - 100 pts.
Elite: 4 Chosen (Meltagun x3, Flamer) and an Aspiring Champion (Flamer) in a Rhino - 175 pts.
Elite: 4 Terminator Champions (Icon of Slaanesh, Pair of Lightning Claws x4) in a Land Raider - 435 pts
Heavy Support: Predator (Autocannon, Lascannon Sponsons) - 130 pts.
Heavy Support: Predator (Autocannon, Lascannon Sponsons) - 130 pts.

The lists should play somewhat similarly, with some notable differences. The first list is a dual lash list, and has a bit more weapon flexibility with the Obliterators. The second list still has a Monstrous Creature and keeps it out of harm's way by having it in reserves, while having a somewhat more deadly payload in the Land Raider (since the Lord is in there). The good thing is, both lists play more or less like my past lists, but thanks to the efficiency I've got a bit more to play with. By making the changes I listed above, I've managed to trim 183 points from past lists: 2 fewer Noise Marines (40 points), no Blast Master (40 points), one less Noise Champion (65 points), one less Chosen (18 points), and no mark on the Chosen (20 points). That's allowed me to run the Chosen and the Terminators in the same list, rather than choosing between them. Let's face it, it needs the Chosen more. If I later decide to do a variant without the Terminators, I still have a very strong backbone to use, and with the Lord and Prince being the same cost, I can easily swap between them as needed.

Efficiency - it's a beautiful thing, even for Slaanesh. A bit less excessive spending in your list means more excessive force on the table.
